As a Cover Supervisor (Learning Manager) you will supervise students across Key Stages 3 and 4 where a teacher is absent. You will cover lessons prepared by the teacher as well as contributing to the development of learning strategies to help raise achievement. You will research, prepare and coordinate resources to support teaching and learning as well as manage behaviour in the classroom. You will also assist with break and lunch time supervision.
All colleagues, teaching and support, are responsible for a small coaching group of students which they meet with for 1.5 hours over a week. Full training is offered and you will be buddied up with a teaching member of staff. This adds a very rewarding element to the role.
At the top of your game, you’ll have great behaviours, strong organisational skills, the ability to collaborate effectively, and be able to work constructively as part of a team. How and why you do things matters greatly to us, as does your ability to use your initiative, work independently and demonstrate ambition and integrity.
In return you’ll be joining a great team, which was recognised in our recent Ofsted inspection report, where we have been judged to be Good with Outstanding features. Ofsted commented “Many staff are proud members of what they describe as the ‘Priesthorpe family’”. In addition to this, the first line of the report captures what really matters to us; “Pupils at Coop Academy Priesthorpe are proud to be members of an inclusive community”.
Co-op Academy Priesthorpe really is a special place to work with a friendly and supportive culture. The academy is situated in Pudsey and just 15 minutes from both Leeds and Bradford centre with places for 1250 students and 135 staff. The Academy has a very special ethos, which visitors continue to comment on. Equity and equality are key drivers for us in ensuring that all students have the opportunity to excel within a highly inclusive and supportive community.
All our values are based upon the values of the Co-op Group, which will inform our behaviours.
Self-help: We do not expect to be spoon fed – we will try to do things for ourselves in the right way and at the right time.
Self-responsibility: Everyone should act in a responsible way around the academy site and in the local community. We take responsibility for our own learning; we want to become independent learners.
Equality: We are proud to be part of a very multicultural academy, with students from all over the world; it is important that we treat each other with respect and accept that others may be different from ourselves. We should all of us have equal chances to succeed.
Equity: We want to look for the best in each other. Rewarding others fairly to encourage all types of achievement.
Democracy: We will contribute our ideas to make the academy a success.
Solidarity: We can achieve more by working together, rather than as individuals.
Being part of the Co-operative Group, we are both guided and driven by the Co-op values which are embedded in everything that we do within our Academy - We strive to demonstrate the following ethical values in everything we do - they are our ‘Ways of Being’:
Succeed together
Do what matters most
Be yourself, always
Show you care
So, if you believe in our values, we would love to hear from you!
