As a Teacher of English, you will help to implement and deliver an exciting, knowledge-rich curriculum that is thoughtfully sequenced and is informed by expert subject knowledge and the latest educational research. We are looking for someone to join the English team who shares our passion for the subject and commitment to supporting every child to achieve great outcomes and a lifelong love of reading and literature.
At the top of your game, you’ll have great behaviours, strong organisational skills, the ability to collaborate effectively, and be able to work constructively as part of a team. How and why you do things matters greatly to us, as does your ability to use your initiative, work independently and be resilient.
Successful candidates will be proactive, well organised and passionate about creating the best possible environment for our staff and students. Experience of teaching across the secondary age and ability using a variety and range of teaching and learning styles, as well as successfully teaching English in one or more UK state secondary schools at both Key Stage 3 and 4 as a qualified teacher is essential.
As well as academic success, we focus on and take great pride in our students' behaviour. We aim for high achievement in an environment which is based on rewards, not sanctions. Working closely with our teaching body, this is an exciting opportunity for an English Teacher to help and support our students through their secondary school journey.
At Co-op Academy Swinton, we pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional educational experience for our students and fostering a supportive, collaborative environment for our staff. Our academy offers a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment where students and staff are inspired to achieve their best. You will be working with passionate colleagues who are dedicated to challenging and supporting students in equal measure. Together, you will guide them through their educational journey, ensuring they are well-prepared for the world beyond.
Our academy provides a place for pupils aged 11-16. We are easily commutable from all areas of the North West with Swinton train station less than a 5-minute walk away. We have a dedicated team of staff who build and share positive relationships and a caring culture with our wonderful students. This was highlighted in our recent Ofsted inspection (June 2024), where we were graded ‘Good’ in all areas.
All our values are based upon the values of the Co-op Group, which will inform our behaviours.
Self-help: We do not expect to be spoon-fed – we will try to do things for ourselves in the right way and at the right time.
Self-responsibility: Everyone should act in a responsible way around the academy site and in the local community. We take responsibility for our own learning; we want to become independent learners.
Equality: We are proud to be part of a very multicultural academy, with students from all over the world; it is important that we treat each other with respect and accept that others may be different from ourselves. We should all have equal chances to succeed.
Equity: We want to look for the best in each other. Rewarding others fairly to encourage all types of achievement.
Democracy: We will contribute our ideas to make the academy a success.
Solidarity: We can achieve more by working together, rather than as individuals.
