The Role

Co-op Academy Rathbone is the newest Co-op academy serving primary-aged pupils in the Liverpool City area. All pupils have an EHCP with a prime need of SEMH.

We are ambitious for our pupils, our academy and our community and we are now looking for an aspiring senior leader of special education to join us as Curriculum and Pupil Development Lead. We need someone with the highest of expectations and a relentless drive to raise the bar for our amazing pupils. This is a varied role, taking oversight and ownership of a range of curriculum and pupil development areas of responsibility, supporting senior leadership in their mission for excellence.

Our Co-op values and ways of being truly matter, so we are seeking a colleague with the belief in the power of cooperation and collaboration within our academy and across Co-op Academies Trust, to build the bright future that all our children deserve. Ambition, high-expectations, the ability to deliver excellence in the classroom; and to model this for other colleagues, are essential qualities and skills.

If you are a colleague of Co-op Academies Trust or Ernest Cookson Special School, are interested in high-quality professional development in special education and believe that all children can achieve well, and deserve the same opportunities, then please apply or get in touch.

We would also be interested in expressions of interest from suitably qualified Co-op Academies Trust colleagues to explore the possibility of a 1 year secondment starting September 2025; which could be made permanent at a later date. You would need the prior agreement of your current Headteacher before applying for the secondment to start in September 2025. Please make clear in your application if you are expressing an interest in a secondment starting in September 2025.

If you would like an informal conversation about this opportunity then please email Ian Berryman, Executive Headteacher: ian.berryman@coopacademies.co.uk

Equity: We want to look for the best in each other. Rewarding others fairly to encourage all types of achievement.

Democracy: We will contribute our ideas to make the academy a success.

Solidarity: We can achieve more by working together, rather than as individuals.
